Finds from the cherished local boutiques that make Bishop Arts District a shopping destination

The Bishop Arts District is home to some of Dallas’ most popular small, locally owned shops—and the perfect setting for our holiday gift-giving guide. From handmade chocolates at a Dallas candy institution, to a carefully sourced inventory of up-and-coming artisans, we’re highlighting our favorite spots to find that unique must-have.

1. The Big Box of Chocolate: Just this December, Dude Sweet Chocolate celebrated its 11 year anniversary—and in just over a decade, proprietor Katherine Clapner’s handmade, artisan chocolates have become a phenom that sweet-toothed Dallasites and tourists alike have flocked to the Bishop Arts District for. This season, make sure that 2021 is much sweeter by gifting friends and family a year’s subscription to Dude Sweet Chocolate’s best. Every month, your $750 subscription will buy the recipient a box filled to the brim with over 3 pounds of fudges, toffees, truffles, nuts, bars and other seasonal oddities. 408 W Eighth St. #102

2. Francophile: For the friend obsessed with all things Parisienne, this little French market owned by Paris transplants Amelie and Gregory is where you’ll find curated goodies they’ll love. Everything is exclusive, small batch and straight from France—from the handmade ceramics and lovey olive oils, to the lovely soap and chic wrap dresses. Th couple is often at the shop and can help you put together a basket that’s almost second best to shopping in the City of Lights. 250 N Bishop Ave. #160

3. Happy at Home: Magic Hour Shop, the home goods store run by Molly Mathias, was born with a desire to provide beautiful and elevated goods made by hand and sourced from small businesses. This is where you’ll find ethically made handblown vases, handmade ceramic mugs by women-owned businesses, and vintage textile pillows made right here in Dallas. The best holiday gifts for that friend whose home is full of perfectly styled vignettes. 250 N Bishop St. #130

4. Self Care + Wellness: The second shop by Magic Hour’s Molly Mathias, this new Bishop Arts boutique is where you’ll find stocking stuffers that will help us all relax after a very long year. Make everyone smile this season with little goodies like face masks, bath salts, herbal supplements, CBD oil, luxe smoking accessories and even sexual wellness products for that special someone. Everything is natural, organic, and supports small businesses. 250 N Bishop Ave. #150

5. Crystal Queen: Speaking of self care, there is nowhere we like going more than Harkensback, where owner Julie McCullough always help put together the best bundle of feel good items for ourselves—and our friends! She’ll steer you towards a fragrance oil, palo Santo wood, incense, sage smudge sticks, and just the right crystal to bring your loved ones luck, prosperity, wealth and more in the new year. Julie’s very informative, so take down notes and include a little note to let your friend know just how to make their home as inviting as possible for the new year. 250 N Bishop Ave. #170

6. Style Queen: What twenty-something fashionista in your life can’t use a little something cute from Caffeinated Beauty Bar? This stylish, bright and fun boutique founded by co-owners Brooke Allen and Marian Otto is the bubbliest shopping spot in Bishop Arts.
